One Year Later: 2007 Diesel Emission Standards Implications for Fleet Operators
Since Jan. 1, 2007, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated that all diesel engines
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) are part of your engines exhaust system. Designed to capture and store particulate matter, such as ash and soot, in order to reduce emissions. Over time that soot builds up and plugs the DPF causing back pressure on your engine. This can effect your fuel mileage and can lead to untimely breakdowns. Regular cleaning of your DPF is more cost effective than a replacement and extends the life of your filter, making it your best option.
VFC has machines that use air knifes (forced air) and burning off of the ash and soot, making sure your filter will exceed EPA emission standards when returned to you.
A quick way to know if you have a filter that needs cleaning is the use of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). If you use DEF in your diesel machine it is most likely you have a filter that needs cleaning as part of your regular maintenance.
